Harry Potter obsession

T has become obsessed with Harry Potter books. He started reading the first book on one of the first days of Christmas vacation. Within six weeks, he had completed all seven books in the series (plus Tales of the Beetle Bard plus Brisingr plus a few other "little" books that got in his way). Since then, he has reread the series once out of order and is now on book five as he rereads the series for a third time. If we can't find T, there's a 90% chance he's in his bed reading a Harry Potter book. The other 10% chance is that he's on the futon reading one.

So far T has seen the first four Harry Potter movies. While one of them is rated PG-13, we decided that since he'd read the book, he'd be ok with it, and he was. However, T then tried to argue he should be allowed to see Episode III of Star Wars because it's PG-13. We have yet to convince him that all PG-13 movies are not the same. We've only let J and B watch the first Harry Potter movie, and both enjoyed it. B absolutely loved it, actually. We haven't let them see the second one because I think the giant snake will be way too scary. (This is the point where Daddy-o and T try to convince me that it's a Basilisk, not a snake, but really, it's a giant snake. You can't fool me.) Once they read the books, they can watch the movies. That hasn't motivated J any to read the books. Then again, she might not be able to get them out of T's hands.

The three of them have decided to be Hogwarts wizards and a witch for Halloween. T is going to be Harry which leaves B with Ron (though we're not dyeing his hair red.) J is thrilled to be Hermione whom she finds to be an acceptable heroine since Hermione is smarter and better at magic than the boy characters. There is much debate about whom Daddy-o should be (though I'm not making him a costume). The kids are arguing that he should be Hagrid though I think he'd make a better Dumbledore.
