Blue Dog's Garden
The planting of Blue Dog's garden went rather smoothly. It had been raining all day, so the ground was nice and muddy (though soft). It also created a nice pool of water in some of the holes that Blue Dog had dug for his comfort. Above, B is washing mud off of tools in the puddle.
There were some technical difficulties that we found frustrating. The gas line goes straight through the garden area, so we had to plant around that. The vent from the clothes dryer also shoots out in to the garden area, so we made sure not to plant anything there, either. Daddy-o had to do most of the digging, and then the kids did the planting and back-filling. Red Dog watched almost all of it and wasn't quite sure what to make of the crazy humans in his yard or the plants they were putting in the ground.
The kids have been excited to watch the plants change over the past week. None of them have died (yet). Hopefully the garden will continue to flourish this summer when the heat comes.
T is now bugging us about when we will be buying a tree to plant B's placenta under like we promised. We need to make a trip back to Natural Gardener some time to do that since the placenta has only been in the freezer for six years waiting for us to do so!
