retired
The other day, T was digging around in the pantry looking for a snack. He found a juice box. We don't buy juice boxes because we consider them a waste of money and an environmental problem with excess packaging, but the kids love them. When they go to Whole Foods, the kids are allowed to get a food item through the kids' club. They will often select a juice box if one is available. For some reason, on a previous visit a child got a juice box but didn't drink at the store or on the way home, so it ended up in the pantry. T found it and said, "This only has one more month before it's retired. Can I drink it?" We told him that we thought it would expire, not retire, but no, he couldn't have it (as a riot would subsequently break out with the other two kids). He sighed and went back to rummaging. I think he eventually settled on crackers, another one of his addictions.
