ANSC summer camps

And suddenly another three weeks of the summer have flown by.

Three weeks ago, T & J were both at Austin Nature and Science Center Camps. From Monday through Friday, T attended "Space Explorers" Camp. He had a great time. One of his favorite activities was when they created a scaled solar system. They put the sun under Mopac (a local highway near ANSC), and by the time they got to the ANSC buildings, they'd only made it out to Uranus. Neptune and the other planetoids didn't fit. It was a great concept for him to understand spatially how far apart things are in the solar system. They also went on a field trip to Wonderworld in San Marcos which he enjoyed. In the afternoons, he went swimming every day at Deep Eddy.

J attended the "Animal Lovers" camp from Tuesday through Friday. It meets for one less day per week because it's so field trip oriented. Over the four days, they went to the Exotic Resort Zoo in Johnson City, the Capital of Texas Zoo in Cedar Creek, and the San Antonio Zoo. Some days they went swimming at Barton Springs. She loved the camp. If you click on the pictures, you can enlarge them and read about the kids' opinions.

The next week both kids were in "Water Adventures" camp through ANSC. Again, they had a blast. They were at Deep Eddy every afternoon swimming. For a field trip, they went to Aquarena Center in San Marcos. They didn't fill out evaluation forms for that week, so I don't have those to share.
