wandering around UT
This morning, B and I went to UT to take some pictures and wander around before going to Boggy Creek Farm to buy some vegetables. We left early to get free parking on Dean Keaton Street (aka 26th). We arrived at 7:40 a.m. and got the very last parking spot available between San Jacinto and Red River. We parked the car and then proceeded to wander around the exterior of the Law School heading down Robert Dedman Dr. to look at the renovations/destruction/construction at the LBJ Library, Bass Concert Hall, and the stadium, and then we made our way over to the Texas Memorial Museum. We hung out by the above pictured statue for a bit, and as we started walking back towards the Law School, B asked me in a very concerned voice, "Mama, do you know where we left our car?" I couldn't help but laugh. UT is a very large, very confusing place, and I'm sure it must be even more so to a five year old. Given the convoluted walking pattern we'd gone in, I can also see how he might be concerned.
We proceeded back past the music school and then past the cooling plant walking over grass rather than staying on a designated path. As we went on this part of the journey, there was a brick retaining wall ahead of us that we could see in the distance. B reassured me, "Mama, we can just jump over the wall." Fortunately, that was not necessary as the grass path continued around the building and out on to Dean Keaton Street where we found our car, just where we had left it.
