Mother Earth Festival

On Friday, TBnJ took Grandpa and Daddy-o to go see the Mother Earth Festival at Zilker Park. This was the first time any of us had attended this particular festival. Daddy-o was not overly impressed because he felt it was overrun with school kids (hence, a high child to adult ratio) plus there wasn't a whole lot there, but the the kids had fun. The kids colored paper salamanders or warblers and put them on a wall to get a free golden cheeked warbler t-shirt. They saw a puppet show and played with puppets. T was impressed with the large chess set on display there which led the kids to spend a lot of time playing chess this weekend. T and J were mostly playing each other with Daddy-o's assistance, though B would sometimes be on J's "team."

After having worn out the festival, the kids rode on the Zilker Zephyr. They then hit P. Terry's for lunch, running into B's speech therapist and her boyfriend while they were there. After that, the kids wanted to go to Peter Pan minigolf. The boys are at right in their new free shirts.

To round off the morning of downtown fun, the crew hit Whole Foods downtown to pick up a few things that we were out of or which the north store doesn't carry. While there, they ran into a friend from ADS whose mama I'm friends with through other social circles. I think Grandpa is now convinced that we know a large part of Austin for the number of people they ran into this weekend while on the town!

Other excitement around these parts on Friday included the neighbors getting a swimming pool hole dug in their backyard. The digging work was in the morning and has continued on Monday morning. The kids enjoyed watching for a short while before departing for the festival. And T also enjoyed climbing the stop sign post, probably because he's run out of trees to climb in our yard and the local park.
