T finished Peter and the Starcatchers. On Wednesday night, he started reading immediately after school. He came down for dinner after we called two or three times. He ate a very small and brief dinner but then professed to not feeling good. He headed back upstairs. When he finished the book about twenty minutes before bedtime, he came back downstairs feeling just fine and ate a lot more. Priorities. He also told me the name of the sequel to the book and requested I get it from the library.

On Thursday morning, I told the kids the names of some of the titles of books that Daddy-o was picking up from the library that afternoon. J was getting The Witches by Roald Dahl. T immediately commented, "J is going to learn how to turn B into a frog." Some days you can just feel the sibling love. Once J asserted that she might learn how to turn T into something else, they moved on to other topics. J has since received and started reading The Witches. I think she picked it up because she got it in the car on the ride home from school on Friday when there are no other kids in the carpool besides T. Regardless of the reason, I'm thrilled she's actually reading a book that's on her reading level. She says she thinks it's funny. Hopefully she will read all of it.

T read another Boxcar Children mystery on Thursday afternoon (they're like picture books for him, I swear) and then moved on to The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet. T is enjoying it. He said this morning that the next chapter has a funny name-- something like "The Wise Man Who Wasn't That Wise." He's got that book in the car, and next to his bed he has one of the Star Wars Jedi Apprentice books for reading before bed.

The picture at left is all three kids reading on the driveway yesterday afternoon after a walk while Daddy-o attacked a few weeds in our yard. T was reading one of three new Franklin books to B, Franklin and the Computer. However, B was distracted by another book, Franklin Wants a Badge. T was getting very frustrated that B was looking at one book while T was making the effort to read B a different book. B was trying to convince T that he was capable of multitasking, but T wasn't buying it. The picture above is J reading The Witches.
