possum convention
These were taken about an hour ago on the fence outside the back door. I took them through the dirty glass window, so I'm impressed with how well they turned out. I'm not sure who convened a possum convention. We don't normally see them in the morning, and we don't see them in pairs. Mercifully, Red Dog was asleep on the fireplace, and Blue Dog was in the side yard oblivious to what was going on in the backyard. Daddy-o managed to get Blue Dog in the house, and we locked the doggie door until the possums
decided to depart the area through a neighbor's yard. We just didn't think that we needed to add two beagles to this mix.Possums are just ugly animals in my opinion.
Update: They appear to be nesting under the neighbors' deck. The neighbors have been out taking pictures, too, though they aren't thrilled at the prospect of the possums moving in at their place! The one possum keeps walking around on the fence. I haven't figured out what it's doing yet.

We had a mama with 5 babies walking across our back porch last summer. A few years ago, a baby got up under the storm door (there was a 3" gap or so). Another day last summer we had one on the window ledge to the girls' bedroom. My kids think they are awesome. We usually see them at night but the window ledge incident was morning.
