Madeline and the Bad Hat
On Sunday afternoon, TBnJ went with Daddy-o to the Paramount Theatre to see Madeline and the Bad Hat. They got home much sooner than I had expected, but Daddy-o said the show was only 45 minutes long (though the website says 55).J loved the show. She said it was only about one minute long and should have been longer.
T said it was ok. He liked it better than the Nutcracker which they saw in December at the Paramount, but he didn't like it as much as "the dinosaurs" which they saw at the Paramount in November 2005. For the record, Daddy-o wasn't too impressed with the dinosaurs. T liked that there wasn't as much singing and dancing as in the Nutcracker, but he enjoyed the bit of singing that there was.
B thought that Madeline was infinitely better than the Nutcracker. His exact words were somewhere along the lines of "it didn't have all that dancing so it was better." I think the boys have clearly voiced their opinion about being taken to the ballet.When I pumped Daddy-o for more details about the show, he said that the cast only had four members. I asked how that was possible since there are supposed to be 12 little girls in two straight lines. Daddy-o replied that when the play started, T asked, "Where are the rest of them?" Daddy-o also had issues with the fact that Madeline's hair was brown, not red. Obviously they haven't spent as much time reading and watching Madeline as we have.
At the show, there was advertising for the other two plays in the children's series this spring, Winnie the Pooh and The Wizard of Oz. T very much wanted to go see The Wizard of Oz. We do have tickets for it, but we won't tell them until the actually weekend of the show lest someone gets sick and requires us to cancel going.
