Slaughter Creek Hike
TBnJ went hiking yesterday with a program through the City of Austin and the Balcones Canyonland Preserve. The hike was at Slaughter Creek. The registration warned that the hike might have content that was above the heads of young kids but that children were welcome. It turns out that the presentation was really not structured for kids at all. The information wasn't above T&J's head
s, but there was a lot of standing and listening and very little hiking. They didn't enjoy it much. We'd like to do more of the hikes in this program, but most of them don't allow kids under 12 because the hiking is "too difficult." I'm not sure who's making that decision because some of the hikes are ones our kids have done before. The next "easy" one that's actually near our house and allows kids is filled up, so they won't be able to go anyway.Labels: in Austin, kid photos
