TBnJ

This weekend was a party weekend. By that, I mean that TBnJ were invited to a total of four birthday parties, none of which overlapped. We know a few other families that were slammed with party invitations this weekend. One friend pointed out that mathematically speaking all of these babies were conceived around Valentine's Day. So maybe that explains the big rush on parties. But the last time TBnJ went to a birthday party was in late September, two months ago. The previous party to that was in July on the day before T&J's birthday party. There was an invitation we turned down last month due to a schedule conflict. However, they don't go partying all the time. It's just that old saying about how when it rains, it pours.

Regardless, it made for a busy weekend. On Friday night, they went to the first party which was a roller skating party for a former classmate. They had lots of fun at it. They came home a bit early from it and were rapidly asleep. A little exercise before bed goes a long way.

Saturday morning, they had the last of their art classes at the Austin Museum of Art School. For the past four weeks, the three kids have been doing art lessons on Saturday mornings while Daddy-o goes and plays frisbee golf with friends.

Then they had their last meeting of Junior First Lego League. They had fun, but the project that the JFLL big folks came up with for them this year just didn't work well. I think they'll probably do it again next year, but I can't be sure.

After JFLL, it was on to the second party of the weekend. It was at a classmate's house in Round Rock. Most of the party was out in the yard as it was a gorgeous 70+ degree day. The picture at right above is an action shot of the someone putting on a costume on J in some kind of clothes relay game.

On Sunday morning, the party circuit started up again. This time it was for a general family friend's birthday party at his house in South Austin. The kids really had fun at this one playing games. T's favorite game was Pass the Parcel (pictured above at left). He talked about that game a lot last night. He is madly in love with the Spiderman toy he won from it. They also broke a pinata and played a toilet paper mummification game (at right).

In between parties on Sunday, Daddy-o drug the kids to Whole Foods for some groceries. After all, the weekend would eventually end, and we needed food in the fridge for the next week. The groceries went in an ice packed cooler in the car, and then the troops headed to the fourth and final party of the weekend in east-central Austin at the home of a current classmate. The kids did crafts and played with friends. T also announced that he went through the doggie door. Daddy-o was less than pleased with this phenomenon and tried to convince T that just because the other kids were going through the dog door didn't mean that T needed to do it, too. The party was a costume themed party, so all the kids got to wear their Halloween costumes again.

This morning as the kids got ready for the day, J asked me, "Are there any birthday parties coming up?" I told her that I thought four in a weekend was plenty to hold them over for a while. J tried to convince me that the Friday party didn't count towards the weekend total since it wasn't on Saturday or Sunday, but I assured her that anything after 5 pm on Fridays is universally counted as the weekend in this country.
