swimming in October

It's been a longer weekend than usual due to a holiday on Friday. But we've managed to keep busy. On Friday, TBnJ and I went up to the park for a playdate with friends. The kids spent most of the time making "acorn soup" using the faucet at the pavilion and the abundance of acorns on the ground. They did play on the playground equipment a bit, too, especially B.

On Friday afternoon, Daddy-o took TBnJ to see their almost 11 year old cousin play football. And after that, the kids went to a Parents' Night Out at Capital Gymnastics. They love going to Capital Gymnastics, and Daddy-o enjoys going out with friends while they are there.

Saturday morning, we did a lot of cleaning and baking around the house. Saturday afternoon, Daddy-o led the crew in their second adventurous meeting of Junior First Lego League. After that, the kids went to Deep Eddy to go swimming because after all, that's what you do in October when the temperature is still in the 90s. They hit Phil's Ice House to watch the end of the dismal UT-OU game, eat dinner, and have a brief visit with friends.

Today we've spent a lot of time around the house cleaning and working and playing. J and I got the fabric for her Halloween costume cut out. We took much-needed naps. And this afternoon, TBnJ have been playing outside in an end-of-summer clearance pool with one of their many Liam friends. It's trying really hard to rain which figures since it's been dry all weekend, but the kids really wanted to try out the new pool.
