TBnJ

On Friday night, TBnJ went to House Park Field in Austin (where some scenes for Friday Night Lights are shot) to see Anderson High School play San Marcos High School. TBnJ have a cousin at Anderson who twirls flags, and hence, the motivation for attending the game. The protests before the game were loud. J tried to convince me that she doesn't like football games, only baseball games. However, since she'd never been to a football game, that argument didn't work and she knew it. She was laughing at herself. T was much more extreme about the fact he didn't want to go. He took a book because he was going to be bored. They actually had a great time, and J spent a large part of the rest of the weekend asking us when they can go back to another game. T wants to go back, too. He said he liked the band and the football. J is very happy about the pom-pom she got at the game, though Daddy-o and I are trying to ignore that idea. B seemed to enjoy it all.

On Saturday morning, TBnJ went to see a program on SuperWhy! at Faulk Central Library. B really likes SuperWhy! though T and J think it is "too easy" since they both can read. There was a story time, some videos, and some crafts. They made superhero capes with SuperWhy! themed stickers on them as well as puppets. B got his picture taken with SuperWhy. They also checked out the required Australia books, and T picked up some Boxcar Children books while he was there, too.

After the library, T and J had their first meeting of Junior First Lego League. They are in a group with kids from their school, and Daddy-o is the coach. When we let the kids know they were going to be doing this, J let out a very shocked sound that Daddy-o was going to be the coach. It was as though she couldn't believe Daddy-o was capable of such a thing. It cracked Daddy-o and me up. Daddy-o convinced J that he is good at playing with Legos and he's a grown up so he's capable of being the team coach. T was just thrilled that he was going to get to do this. He's been bugging us about wanting to do FLL since they attended last year's tournament. Daddy-o said the meeting went well though it's harder than he thought to get six kids of this age level (6-9) to work together when they all want to build their own things. The group is going to be meeting for probably four more weeks as they work on creating an appliance and a power source for it. After JFLL, the kids came home and collapsed and watched videos.

On Sunday after walking the dogs, changing a car battery, and going to Lowes and Whole Foods, TBnJ went to the Texas Memorial Museum for a grand re-opening festival. B and J are checking out the newly unveiled saber-toothed tiger sculpture at the right. There were all kinds of kids' activities to do in addition to the regular exhibits. T and B both liked making dinosaur footprints which involved stomping a model foot into playdough.
