apple pie
For dinner we had a turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, and gravy. Daddy-o and I exhausted ourselves in the creation of this meal. (We also made some lasagna for later in the week.)
Before dinner, T came in the kitchen, assessed the meal plans, and asked, "Can we have apple pie, too?" We told him no, we didn't have energy, oven space or apples for apple pie. He was disappointed and wanted to know if we could have it later this week.
During dinner while happily surveying the feast, B looked up and asked, "Do we have apple pie?" These boys seem to think that Thanksgiving dinner (even if it is in August) requires apple pie. They then asked for pumpkin pie which we also turned down. They've got a chance of getting one last blueberry pie this week, though, as blueberry season is drawing to a close. T doesn't like blueberry pie for some reason we don't understand, but both B and Daddy-o love it.
B also insists on calling a whole roasted turkey a chicken. We don't know why but no matter how many times we tell him it's a turkey, he still calls it a chicken. Tonight he's managed to infect Daddy-o's brain because now Daddy-o keeps calling it chicken, too.
