a trip to San Marcos
On Saturday afternoon, TBnJ went to San Marcos to play tourist and just to play. They started with an expedition to Aquarena Springs where they went on their first boat ride. Daddy-o was concerned before the ride that B was going to refused to go on the boat because T had spent lunch time discussing the Titanic. T read a book about the Titanic in his classroom, and now he has quite an interest in it. Despite T's conversation, B had no fear of the boat, and no icebergs were seen in the 80 degree w
eather. T said he was expecting the boat to be bigger and to have big sails, but it didn't. He also expected there to be stairs to go down to the glass bottom (pictured at left), but again, there weren't. Daddy-o said that the majority of the crowd on the boat was in the 60+ age group and that TBnJ were the only kids on the 30 minute excursion. Daddy-o also said that one of TB or J would say something and 1/3 of the boat would laugh. I am glad they were such entertainment for the group! The kids were really impressed by the glass bottom and the fish. J said they saw one fish that was "this big" which was about 18".They walked around the grounds of the center and saw the other exhibits. The kids liked the moss-covered turtle (above right). They also told me that white thing in the picture (click to enlarge) is the swamp monster which was followed by giggles.
After exploring Aquarena Springs, the crew headed over to Children's Park to meet up with friends. The general conse
nsus was that the park was incredible. They loved it. J enjoyed the upside dome (pictured at left). T liked the rocket. They mainly just liked how big it was an how much there was to do. Even Daddy-o was thoroughly impressed with it and looks forward to going back. They spent about three hours at the park including a picnic dinner. Both T and J fell asleep on the way home in the car; B avoided the Sandman because he had fallen asleep in the car on the way down to San Marcos.Labels: kid sayings, out of town
