KLRU Open House
On Sunday afternoon, TBnJ went to the KLRU Open House. Daddy-o thought that the crew would get bored quickly, so he was only planning on staying for about an hour. They got there at 1 when it started, and they left at 4:30. It was supposed to end at 4. Daddy-o said there weren't a lot of activities but that the kids had a lot of fun participating in those activities. At left, B and J and a random kid are drawing with Dusty and Buford Biscuit of the Biscuit Brothers. The game was to draw a line or shape and then a Biscuit Brother would change it into something more recognizable. They did this for quite a while, and they also watched a set of songs by the Biscuit Brothers. One of the treats of the event was to try some Maine Root root beer. T and J don't like carbonation, so they rarely try any of Daddy-o's natural sodas. B loves soda, and he will happily drink all of Daddy-o's sodas, so we have to limit him. In one of the pictures Daddy-o brought home, B is a two fisted (root) beer drinker, holding a full glass in one hand while drinking another. Daddy-o had asked the guy handing them out for one glass of root beer and three half glasses of root beer which came back closer to 3/4 full. T & J tried theirs and didn't like them. However, B drank large amounts of it, probably a full glass, by himself. This resulted in three potty trips during the event for some reason. Daddy-o drank the other 1.5 glasses.
Inside the KLRU studios, the kids had fun making crafts and exploring. J a
nd T are checking out the Central Texas Gardener set at right. They also got to play with a control board. Daddy-o said they left the control board to do a potty run. When they went back later, the control dude was trying to figure out how to undo what all the various kids had done. He was unsure how. It was like the kids reprogramming the computer when you aren't looking.Labels: in Austin
