Today we participated in a Texas spring ritual of taking photos in the fields of bluebonnets and other fields of wildflowers. The bluebonnets actually peaked several weeks ago, so we're behind schedule as usual. But since we didn't get around to doing photos at all last year, this is an improvement. We went to the same area we went to in 2005, an office complex not far from our home. It's owned by a tech company that isn't the one Daddy-o works for.

The kids aren't very excited about getting pictures taken with wildflowers. It's not on the top of their list of things to do. They were MUCH more excited about tracking deer from prints they found in a dry creekbed. They also were much more enthusiastic about getting their picture taken in front of a railroad crossing sign and a "baby" stop sign (one that was about 3' tall). But they obliged us with a few other photos in the "itchy" flowers. Most mercifully B did not get bit by ants in the endeavor this year since he reacts to ant bites pretty strongly.

The kids also had a bunch of fun hollering in an empty parking garage which made a fabulous echo chamber on an otherwise quiet Sunday morning.

J asked if we could take more than one photo at the stop sign so we could send one to Grandpa. Daddy-o agreed. T asked why we couldn't just make a copy on the computer for Grandpa. So we thought one kid had the digital photos concept. But then a few seconds later T asked if we had enough film left. We haven't used a 35mm in eons, so we're not sure where that came from since our photo card holds 401 photos and is never full since I'm always emptying it onto my hard drive. We told T the concern was more that the batteries would die since Daddy-o left the extras in the pockets of a different pair of pants. But they didn't.

Yesterday the kids went to the Dragon Boat races on Town Lake. It didn't have a lot of activities, but the kids had fun watching one heat of the boats racing.
