San Antonio Sunday
On Sunday, Daddy-o took the kids to San Antonio for some fun. The Dinosaur George exhibit was the main reason they headed down there. Daddy-o was surprised that there were so many bones. He and I had expected a lame exhibit of about 10 small dinosaurs. However, it was much bigger. Daddy-o said there were about 50 different species represented, and they spent two hours at the exhibit. J 
said they saw elephants and pigs, and T said there was a T-Rex. In addition to the exhibits, there were lots of dinosaur themed crafts. B is at left with dino feet. The kids had to carry a dinosaur egg (aka a ball) on a spoon while wearing the dino feet. What's funny is that was a game that we had meant to do at T's birthday last year, but I didn't get the feet made. We just did the dinosaur egg (actually an Easter egg) on a spoon instead. The kids also made Dino hats out of construction paper. When asked what his favorite part of the day was, B was positive it was the dinosaurs. I had expected it to be T's favorite part of the day, but it wasn't.Since they were already almost into downtown San Antonio, they spent the rest o
f the day going to the Witte Museum. Daddy-o really liked the Witte Museum, and so did all of the kids. J's favorite part was the dress collection. The gaudier the dress, the more she loved it. There were only two dresses in the collection of 20 or so that she didn't want to bring home with her. She also loved the outdoor multi-level treehouse (at right). She found the mummy fascinating and asked Daddy-o why they killed that person by wrapping them up like that. So Daddy-o explained that the mummification was done as decoration (sort of) after the person was already dead. J also had a great time playing outside with the mechanical levers (which B is looking at in a picture below at right).

orks area. The way he, J and Daddy-o have been talking about the treehouse, I'm afraid of what they might buy at Home Depot the next time they go and what will happen to one of the trees in our yard! T and J (and B) absolutely adored the Egyptian Wall they have at the Witte. It is a bunch of large foam blocks that are used to create a 5' tall wall. After building the wall, the kids have try to hold up the wall because an "earthquake" comes and knocks down the wall like happened in Egypt. The kids then get to rebuild the wall when they can't successfully hold it up during the earthquake. Daddy-o said they spent 30 minutes building and rebuilding this wall along with several other kids. Daddy-o finally had to convince them to leave the wall in favor of seeing something else in the museum before it closed. T is shown blasting himself with a vacuum 
cleaner type hose which is actually meant for blowing on two bowling balls for some sort of science experiment.

B just looked out his window most of the time. J spent most of the time asking if they were there yet. T read Hank the Cowdog books most of the way (which he thinks are among the funniest books in the world). Daddy-o is actually looking forward to the next road trip with them because it went so well.
