the World Series

We watched quite a few of the playoff games with the kids (or at least B) and have been watching the World Series with them, too. Granted, they only get to see about 30 minutes of the game before bedtime, but that is usually more than they are interested in watching.

During the playoffs, B went up to the tv one night and pointed at the logo in the lower right hand corner and read, "FOX." Daddy-o and I just kind of looked at each other uncertain of how B knew that. I assumed it was some kind of logo recall thing, like the way 99% of all American toddlers can recognize the McDonald's logo before they are two. But the thing is that B doesn't often watch FOX. He watches PBS and Nick Jr. on CBS. So we're really not sure how he knew that. Daddy-o asked B later when the tv was off if he knew how to spell FOX, and B said no. But the next time he saw FOX on tv, he read, "F-O-X." He knows the letters, but I really don't think he's reading it. When the logo moved to the upper right hand corner as part of the scoreboard, he was able to locate it up there, too.

Before game one of the World Series, T and I were watching the pregame show. He wanted to know who the red team was (the Cardinals) and the blue team (Detroit). He announced that he would be cheering for the red team. That's a good choice since both Daddy-o's and my family are from St. Louis.

On night two of the World Series, T announced to J that the red team is Grandpa's team. He was also correct on that.

Last night after T&J were tucked in bed, B conned Daddy-o into carrying him downstairs. I was walking behind them on the staircase while B was clinging to Daddy-o like a little monkey. He looked up at me and said, "Baseball is takin' a break tonight." I asked Daddy-o if he'd told B that, and he said yes. B is going to be disappointed when the World Series is over and baseball takes a break for many months. Then again, he'll watch football happily, too.
