rain
Over the weekend we had been talking about hurricanes in light of the upcoming Ernesto. The kids wanted to know if we ever got hurricanes in Austin, and we explained that we sometimes get heavy rain from them, but they usually die out once they hit land. Since we live several hours from the ocean, the hurricane isn't quite so strong by the time it gets here.
We got rain yesterday afternoon and this morning complete with lots of thunder and lightning. We haven't had real rain like this since around the 4th of July. So J asked this morning, "Is this a hurricane?" No, it's just a thunderstorm, something most people wouldn't think twice about, but here in the semi-desert, it's a real treat.
