The Monkey Bars; Eggs

Today J played on the monkey bars so long and so hard that she has popped blisters on her hands. She did this with her new friend I (as opposed to her friend I at ADS... this is only one step less than confusing) who also got blisters on her hands. But she says she had fun.

Last night at dinner, the kids had the experience of eating hard boiled eggs for the first time in a long time. T and B had fun peeling them; J eventually got into it a bit. B took a bite and told us, "It tastes like chicken!" He decided he didn't like the "'olks," but T liked all of them. J didn't like them at all. She doesn't like scrambled eggs either. She's her father's child.

At one point, T pointed out that one of the 'olks B gave him had a bump and it must be a chicken leg forming. I said that these eggs didn't have baby chicks in them because no roosters had been around. J looked at me with this serious face and said, "You MEAN they haven't been fertilized." She had this "Sheesh, Mama, get with the program" tone of voice. Since she just finished the year at ADS with a study of the chicken life cycle and an unsuccessful attempt to grow chicks in an incubator, so I guess they learned about fertilization, too!

T was singing a "Buenos Dias" song to the tune of "Frere Jacques" yesterday at dinner. He said he learned it at ADS, though.
