McKenna Children's Museum

Today the crew plus Daddy-o and Grandpa went to the recently opened McKenna Children’s Museum in New Braunfels, about an hour away from Austin. The kids had a fabulous time. When they got home, I asked T what he thought. His first words to me were, "I want to go back tomorrow." Both Daddy-o and I said, "I don’t think that is going to happen." J and B both want to go back as well.

T said his favorite thing was the spacesuits they got to try on. J said she liked everything. B said he liked the animals (which were statues outside). B liked walking on the alligator, also a statue outside. Both Daddy-o and Grandpa said that it was a nice new facility, but way more of the exhibits were broken or nonfunctional than should be for a place that new. Daddy-o ranked it higher than the Austin Children’s Museum but lower than the most awesome Houston Children’s Museum.

They went to the museum when it first opened, and then they left for a picnic lunch at Landa Park in New Braunfels. The kids absolutely loved that playground and are asking to go back to it, too. We’ve explained it’s a little far to drive just to play on a playscape. They went back to the museum to spend the afternoon in the air conditioning. All three kids slept on the way home which proves it was a good day!
