no power = no school
The power at ADS is down today. They held school from 8 until 10 am. If they make it until 10 am, they get to count it as a full day of school and get funding and don't have to make it up at the end of the year (next week!). So Daddy-o just stayed out there with the kids for the two hours, and he helped to take kids on hikes since the kids needed to do something constructive besides bounce off of un-air conditioned walls.
They're all home now, but T and J are very upset because they have a dentist appointment this afternoon (so they wouldn't have been at school anyway). They said that Daddy-o PROMISED to take them to the dentist after school, and now he won't let them go. They are not latching on to the concept that they still get to go to the dentist, but they have to wait until their appointment times this afternoon. How many nuts do you know who think that going to the dentist is a huge treat?
T is also very insistent that the Green Dragons (an older class) are still at the school and school wasn't cancelled for them. I promised him that I am absolutely certain they are not having school either. Everyone is getting sent home. He's just upset that school is cancelled, and he doesn't get to stay.
Edited to add: When Daddy-o went out to the school to drop off J and T, B was in the car with him, so he got to join in on the festivities. He has told me over and over and over again that "the hike at ADS was really neat." He had a great time. He's really looking forward to going to ADS in future years.
